Omega is a deep textural piece that is inspired by the eroded rock formations that scattered across the coast I grew up near. Although often bitterly cold, and framed by tumbling grey clouds, this coastline was a sanctuary for me on many occasions. Scrambling for balance across slippery rocks, weathered by the sea, while taking in gasps crisp, salty air forces all the other thoughts and worries from your mind. The roar of the crashing sea surrounds you until that's all you can focus on, until you feel cleansed, calm, and pure. I have distilled that pure feeling of peacefulness, those calming sensations and those rocky yet smooth textures into Omega, to bring some of that sanctuary to you. The painting. is painted solely in Titanium White to allow the texture, and the shadow and light to show through as the true subject. Due to the unique combination of heavy textural forms and uniform paintwork, the artwork will look different depending where you hang it, and throughout the day as the light changes. A truly special piece.
This textured abstract is painted in pure white and created on a heat treated MDF panel cradled by deep edge gallery stretcher bars giving it a depth of around 2”. These edges are plastered and painted allowing the artwork to be hung as is, or to be hung in a floating frame.
