Sublimate - Pathos Collection 55 x 79cm

£1,950.00

The second double award winner from the Pathos Collection, Sublimate is the physical manifestation of self that has become lost, overwhelmed, depressed and sinking beneath the great surge.

Sculpted Plaster Relief, Acrylic, on Cradled Wood Board, Solid Oak Frame, Artwork and Frame Sealed in Archival Natural Non-Toxic Varnish 545mm x 790mm framed

The depression is slow, and creeping. All that you are sinking and falling, slipping and receding, gradually replaced with the cold, deadened mire until sublimation is complete

‘Sublimate’ is part of the Pathos Collection, which is Cheryl’s most personal, intimate series to date. Created during a time when she when was undergoing a prolonged recovery from extensive illness, Cheryl was met with many and in some cases unfamiliar feelings. These intense emotions coupled with her creativity, which was neglected during her convalescence and had grown restless and powerful. They formed a force with so much intent, Cheryl had to allow them to take form through her medium of plaster, paint and pigment.

The Pathos Collection is the winner of both the London Invitational Art Contest and the Cass Art Award for ‘Fatigue of the Soul’ and ‘Sublimate’. With the judges drawn to the depth of emotion, they felt from the pieces, and the striking contrasts of the abstractions of self, standing boldly against the bare wood.
